After all those years of making fun of wanna-be DJs in Boulder, guess who stepped up to the plate. Haha. The irony.
But for real, I’m stoked to announce that my friend Lilly and I have a new radio show here in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
Lilly, who is studying broadcast journalism at Chapman University was in need of an internship and some volunteer experience. She had the connect at the radio, the guys running the studio opened up a time slot for her, and she asked me to join in. It all happened so quickly.
Whether we are hanging at Sharkys, sharing a cold one, or just bopping around town, needless to say, I’m glad to have her as a friend and co-host, and now we each have one more thing to cross off the bucket list … Anyway, our show is called “Sunday Funday”, it’s on SHARK-FM 96.9, and we play a ton of epic jams. Not to mention, there’s great commentary.
My first experience was last Sunday, and I think it was definitely one of the funnest things I’ve ever done in my entire life. Seriously, my cheeks still hurt from smiling from how much fun it was. Life calling? Totally.
As the person who is always willing to lend the iPhone when the time comes to share music (give me your aux cord damnit), sharing music with an even bigger audience is unlike any other feeling in the world. Might have to go back to school just to study broadcast. Or, maybe I don’t…
To celebrate after the first show, Lilly and I were invited to a family dinner afterwards and I’ve never in my life been welcomed with such wide arms to a gourmet meal, great people, and new friends. Not to mention, a celebratory shot of tequila. Last Sunday was one of the best days of my life, and I’ll never forget it.
And guess what?! You don’t have to be in Costa Rica to listen to the show. Tune in every Sunday from 7-8 pm here.
